Software Performance Improvement (SPI)

This integrated collection of consultancy services aims at an improvement of the performances of your software development. In connection therewith we aim at the implementation of structural improvements in five areas: organisation, people, process, technology and architecture. Because SPI is not merely a technical matter. At Sioux we have accumulated extensive expertise with SW-CMM and CMMI. Moreover we work – if this appears to be useful - with ISO 9001, TickIT, Bootstrap, PSP, the People-CMM and the ISO/IEC 15504 standard SPICE.

Software Management by Numbers

Getting too little or too much data is easy, identifying the relevant data and converting it to meaningful information for everyone is the challenge. Oftentimes, software projects are managed by just three metrics: project schedule, effort and critical defects found during testing. Many other useful metrics are ignored, but must be in the equation as well. They represent what will be built, how it is built and the expected quality of the final outcome. A powerful set of 16 best practice KPIs, using a multi-dimensional perspective, together with benchmarking data (industry, best-in-class) enables a quantitative assessment of a software manufacturer‘s capability and define an underpinned business case for improvements with quantified targets.

Software Architecture

Architecture takes a separate place on account of the fact that this constitutes a specific feature of the software product and not of the way it is developed. It determines, to a significant extent, the maintenance, expansion possibilities and transferability of a software product. Also on account of the increasing importance of this Sioux has created a separate consultancy division for this. This division provides you with technical content-related advice and carries out assessments with the objective to assess the quality of the architecture.

Test Performance Improvement (TPI)

At a lot of companies the extensive testing of applications and systems is, from times immemorial, a supposititious child. The growth of the testing process up to a maturer level is strongly determined by the level of the development process as a whole. Sioux has accumulated ample knowledge and experience with the models TMM(I) and TPI aimed at testing as also with the general development models SW-CMM and CMMI. It goes without saying that we keep a close track of new developments.
