Eindhoven, 24 October 2019 - The jury was unanimous in its choice of Accessories for the Paranoid. It is a speculative design project that brings up the discussion about privacy in a humorous way. The product concepts are well developed and designed. The project balances perfectly on the line between abstract and concrete, so that you understand exactly what it could do, while it is clearly presented as a concept.
The runner up is Ismay Shade with Pr__f.
The bulletproof vest for pregnant women poses the issue of gender representation in combination with the gap in availability of data relating to women. The work of Schaduw brought this convincing and relevant.
All designs were assessed on the basis of four criteria: The technological approach, socially critical, accessibility, and innovative. The finalists all scored high on all four criteria.
We are curious about the next steps, we believe in what this has added to the exhibition and would like to see more.
