Ronald has been working at Sioux Technologies in the Randstad region since 2012. From an early age, he enjoyed putting things together and taking them apart, which led him to study Mechanical Engineering at Delft University of Technology. He graduated in production automation, where he gained extensive experience in robotics, networking, software development, and programming automated machines. After graduating, he started as a software programmer and built up solid hands-on experience. Following several years in machine construction and IT services, Ronald joined Sioux in 2012.
Ronald is now a Tech Lead at Sioux, a broad role that combines elements of project management, architecture, and process coaching. Each Tech Lead chooses their own specialism within a project. For Ronald, that is requirements management, not only because he is good at it but also because he genuinely enjoys it. This involves close collaboration with the client during the early stages to shape the project together, precisely the part that gives him energy. Since 2023, he has also been Programme Manager Technology within the management team of his business unit, where he contributes to shaping Sioux’s technological direction for the years ahead.
‘Why did I choose Sioux? I was advised to follow my heart. That choice turned out to be absolutely right.’
Ronald: ‘As a Tech Lead, you are not tied to a single domain. You support the team both technically and in processes, helping to deliver a product for the client from start to finish. What I enjoy most about my work is that no day is the same. One day I may be working on a proposal, the next I am coaching the team, and sometimes I am putting out fires. In the morning I never know exactly what the day will bring, and that is what makes it exciting to get started again.’
Unique culture
Ronald experiences the culture within his business unit as unique. With offices in Delft, Mijdrecht, and Apeldoorn, they form a close-knit team of around 70 colleagues, most of whom he knows personally. ‘We are given the freedom to do things our own way, we work with excellent colleagues, and we are constantly learning about new technologies and client environments. That makes every day different and gives me a broad perspective to truly advise our clients well.
What makes our approach unique? We listen to the client, but we also dare to think beyond their comfort zone. That way, we find the best solutions, sometimes different from what the client initially had in mind.’
Growth and development
‘When I started 13 years ago, I was mainly a software designer writing code on a daily basis. Now I am programme manager within our business unit, guiding projects and people. What I value most is that I have grown along with the organization. The freedom and responsibility have strongly stimulated my development.
What the next ten years will bring, I do not know, but I do know that it will be a tremendous challenge. Here I am given every opportunity to grow, within an organization where I enjoy working with everyone, both during and outside working hours. When people thrive, the company thrives. That was once the philosophy of Sioux’s founder, and it still holds true today.’
