Floris Driessen has been working at Sioux since 2019 as a Senior Software Designer. He studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht, followed by a Master’s in Electrical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology.
His focus lies in the field of embedded software, ranging from microcontrollers to embedded Linux for larger systems. In addition to his work, he supervises graduation projects for students, with a focus on the development of swarm bots: small robots that collaborate in a swarm. Currently, Floris is working on the development of electron microscopes, where he is responsible for the software and firmware of the electronics developed by Sioux.
Floris: ‘What motivates me is developing high-tech systems and creating something from nothing. I enjoy working on innovative technologies and building something truly new together with colleagues. The combination of technical depth and collaboration with driven people makes my work both challenging and fun.’
Strong teams and people at the center
‘What I value most about working at Sioux is that people are at the heart of everything. It’s not just about the product or project, there’s a real investment in personal growth and development. I also appreciate the variety of high-tech projects. You’re not tied to one product or client; you have the opportunity to switch between projects or domains. That gives me the freedom to keep learning new things without having to change employers.’
‘There is a real investment in personal growth & development.’
‘In my experience, everyone at Sioux is willing to help one another. That’s an important part of our Sioux culture: colleagues who are helpful, motivated, and driven—and we also consciously take the time to celebrate successes. This contributes to strong teams where we get to know each other well, can rely on one another, and collaborate effectively.’
