The Belgium company Classified Cycling joined forces with Sioux Technologies to realize an innovative solution that enables fully wireless shifting for bicycles.

With this POWERSHIFT, a cyclist can now shift very fast and control the system under full load. Sioux created the software for this product using Bluetooth Low Energy technology. The product is now on the market.

How does it work?
The functionality of the front derailleur is replaced in the rear hub, which is fully sealed. By shifting on the handlebar, a wireless signal is sent out. This signal will trigger the hub to shift using contactless energy transfer, which allows you to change gears in a split second.

Classified event
Sioux and Classified presented the end-result to employees and interested customers in an interactive session last week. Together with Bram Tankink, Dutch professional cyclist, we looked back on the cooperation and the potential of this new cycling innovation.

In the short video below, Roëll van Druten CTO of Classified Cycling, explains how the system works.
