Melianne has been working at Sioux as a Software Engineer since 2024. Before that, she studied Computer Science at Avans University of Applied Sciences. In her role as Software Engineer, she designs, develops, and improves software solutions for various projects.

‘I chose Sioux because of the humanity within this innovative and fast-moving sector.’

Melianne: ‘What struck me immediately during the interviews was the collegial atmosphere at Sioux. From the very first conversation, I felt that everyone interacts on an equal level, despite the hierarchy that naturally exists within a project team. That feeling only grew stronger once I started.

At first, I was a little hesitant to ask questions, but here I was encouraged to share my questions and ideas. No question is ever seen as “silly”, and even senior colleagues appreciate your opinion, regardless of how much experience you have yourself. That means you can truly learn from one another. For me, this sense of equality is an important distinguishing feature of Sioux.’

‘What I enjoy most about my work is collaborating as a team on a complex challenge, with everyone contributing their own part to the solution. You build something together and learn a lot from one another. In addition, Sioux regularly organises activities and outings. This is not only valuable for team building, but also simply enjoyable to get to know each other better outside of work.’

My development and Sioux’s growth

‘Sioux has contributed a great deal to my development. The open working atmosphere ensures that you never have to struggle with a question for too long. In addition, the study budget is flexibly deployable. I can indicate myself where I want to grow, whether that is learning a new programming language or developing soft skills. Together with my people manager, I discuss which skills are valuable for me and for the company, and we create a plan for the year. That interaction feels like a worthwhile investment: I develop myself, and at the same time the company benefits from it.’
